Chai Stall Tycoon Guide: Best Upgrades, Outlets and Offline Earnings
Chai Stall Tycoon starts with one kettle at a roadside tapri and ends, if you keep at it, with a full chai chain franchise. Like every idle game, it is easy to play and surprisingly easy to play badly: buy the wrong things and your income crawls. This guide explains how the game's economy actually works and the order of decisions that grows your stall fastest.
The Basics
- Tap the kettle to brew chai and earn coins.
- Upgrades tab: make each tap worth more.
- Helpers tab: Chotu helper, Second stove, Samovar and Chai-wala team earn coins every second without tapping.
- Menu tab: Biscuit, Samosa, Vada pav, Bun maska and Kulhad chai add new income streams.
- Outlets tab: move to a bigger outlet for a permanent income multiplier.
Each helper or menu item gets about 15% more expensive with every level you buy. Use the ร1, ร10 and Max buttons to buy in bulk.
What to Buy First
In the first few minutes, tapping is your only income, so:
- Tap until you can afford Better tea leaves (40 coins). Each level adds +1 to every tap.
- Buy Chotu helper (60 coins) as soon as you can. Your first coin per second means the stall earns even when you stop tapping.
- Keep adding Chotu levels and grab the Second stove at 750 coins. It makes 8 coins a second for one purchase, far better value than Chotu at that stage.
- Unlock Biscuit at 2,500 and Adrak (which doubles tap value) at 1,200 when you are still tapping a lot.
Helpers vs Tap Upgrades
Tap upgrades only pay while you are tapping. Helpers and menu items pay every second, including while you are away. So the rule is simple:
- Early game: a mix. Better tea leaves and Adrak make tapping worthwhile while your income per second is tiny.
- Mid and late game: put most of your coins into helpers and menu items. Their income soon dwarfs your taps.
- The exception is Masala. Each level makes every tap add 5% of your income per second. Once your income is large, a few Masala levels make active tapping worthwhile again.
Buy by Value, Not by Habit
Every helper and menu row shows how many coins per second one more level adds. Divide the price by that number to get the payback time in seconds, and buy whatever pays back fastest. At the start, the base values look like this:
| Item | First price | Coins/sec per level | Payback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chotu helper | 60 | 1 | 60 s |
| Second stove | 750 | 8 | about 94 s |
| Biscuit | 2,500 | 20 | 125 s |
| Samovar | 10K | 64 | about 156 s |
| Samosa | 32K | 180 | about 178 s |
| Chai-wala team | 140K | 500 | 280 s |
Because prices rise 15% per level, a cheap item quickly loses its edge. After 15 or 20 levels of Chotu, a fresh Samovar level is often the better deal.
Level Milestones Double Output
This is the most important hidden lever. When any helper or menu item reaches level 10, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 300, 400 or 500, its output doubles. The game shows a toast when this happens.
So when an item is a few levels short of a milestone, finishing those levels is usually the best purchase on the screen, even if the payback table says otherwise. A good routine is to push every helper and menu item to level 10 and then 25, before spreading out further.
Achievements Add Up
Each achievement boosts all income by 2%. There are 18 to collect, from serving your first cup to keeping a 7-day streak, which adds up to a useful bonus. You keep achievements when you move outlets.
When to Move to the Next Outlet
Moving gives a much bigger brand multiplier on all income, but it resets your coins, upgrades, helpers and menu. The requirement is based on coins earned at your current outlet, not coins you are holding.
| Outlet | Earned needed to move here | Income multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| Roadside tapri | Start | ร1 |
| Railway station stall | 2M | ร3 |
| College canteen | 100M | ร10 |
| Chai cafรฉ | 5B | ร35 |
| Highway dhaba | 250B | ร120 |
| Chai chain franchise | 12T | ร500 |
After the chai chain, you can open new branches. Each one doubles the multiplier again but needs 50 times more earnings than the last.
Because every move multiplies income by three or more, moving soon after it unlocks is usually right. Coins earned beyond the requirement do not carry over, so waiting for a long time gains little. Two sensible exceptions: do not move just before you close the game, and spend your remaining coins first, since they would be wiped anyway.
Offline Earnings and Daily Bonus
Your stall keeps brewing while you are away, for up to 8 hours, at your current income per second. You collect it when you return (you need to be away at least 30 seconds).
- Before leaving, spend your coins on helpers and menu items to raise your income per second. That is what offline earnings are based on.
- Do not move outlets right before a break. A fresh outlet starts at zero income, so you would earn almost nothing offline.
- Come back within 8 hours to avoid wasting time beyond the cap, such as after a night's sleep.
Opening the game on consecutive days also builds a daily streak. The daily chai bonus grows each day up to day 7, so a quick daily visit is worth it.
FAQ
What should I buy first in Chai Stall Tycoon?
Better tea leaves, then Chotu helper, then the Second stove. After that, buy whatever gives the fastest payback and finish levels close to milestones.
Are tap upgrades worth it?
Early on, yes. Later, helpers and menu items matter more, except Masala, which ties tap value to your income per second.
Do I lose everything when I move outlets?
You lose coins, upgrades, helpers and menu items, but you keep the higher multiplier, your achievements and your streak. You rebuild much faster.
How long do offline earnings last?
Up to 8 hours, at the income per second you had when you left.
